To answer the demands of the Long Term Care Industry for lower beds, HBR has designed a Low Profile Positive Floor Lock modification for the model 55. By moving the casters from the telescoping leg tube to new jump legs mounted on the lower frame, we can effectively lower the sleep surface from 16 1/2" down to only 13 1/2".
A side benefit of this modification is the Positive Floor Lock capability. When using the electric Hi-Lo function to raise the bed, the casters are lifted from the floor. This transfers all the bed and patient weight to the the telescoping leg tubes, effectively locking the bed to the floor and preventing any unpredictable bed movement. No longer is there a need to set individual caster brakes.
